Recognition of Current Competence (RCC) or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) can provide significant benefits to individuals by:
- Valuing the skills already acquired
- Not having to repeat training
- Formalising your skills and knowledge
- Reducing the time required to attend off-the-job training
- Enable more time gaining hands-on experience
- 'Fast-track' progress to complete the qualification early
RCC and RPL involves the assessment of previously unrecognised skills and knowledge an individual has against the competency levels of a qualification. Qualifications are part of the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) and are nationally accredited. So it doesn't matter where you gained your skills, knowledge, or training, it can be assessed and contribute towards a national qualification.
For CERT to determine a person has the relevant level of competence, evidence must be provided. Ultimately the student, apprentice, or trainee must be able to demonstrate the relevant skill and knowledge, but other evidence can also be provided. All people that are assessed by CERT as having the relevant competencies will not be required to repeat that part of the training.
Assessment of any CERT training course is undertaken by our qualified workplace assessors who will work with you to determine whether industry standards are met. If you do not have all the required skills or knowledge, the assessor will provide you with advice as to further training to assist you in completing your qualification.
